A Walk With Death

 My vision was blurred,

Sirens weeping in the void,
These are my final moments on my bed,
My love sitting on one side, while death caressing me on the other,
As every tear fell down her beautiful skin,
Death came one step closer,
I tried to raise my hand and reach for her skin one last time,
She came closer to me and I whispered,
"I'm sorry my love, Death has arrived to comfort me too",
I see Death in a moment of grief too,
As she kisses my forehead and prays to God,
I feel Death grabbing my soul,
The pain, I'm furious, lost and helpless,
And I'm finally out of my body,
I see her wailing at the failing monitor,
I want to touch her, but my hands don't feel anything,
But only the cold hands of Death,
He asks me,"Shall we leave?"

I don't have any choice but to go with him,
I ask Death, "Why show grief?"
He said, in a low voice,
"Love is beautiful, I am blessed to see it whenever I arrive,
But that beauty is only for a moment,
I wish to claim the soul,
But my hands are far too cold to kill the warmth of love,
Yet I do it out of duty,
It is a curse for me to destroy such beautiful moments,
I may be Death, but I am weak,
Weak like those on the deathbed,
Maybe that's why you see me,
Ironic that people are terrified of me,
But I'm afraid to destroy what they have the strongest,
Love, hope,
Yet Destiny prevails to be cruel,
I'm sorry for your loss,
Because your death will affect many,
And you'll be left helpless,
God bless you"
And just then I realized,
Death is more human than any of us,
Cursed to take, but with remorse.
