A Cigarette to Your Name
Looks like you didn't like the silence of the car,
It seemed deafening to me too.
You ask for a cigarette, but both of us forgot to bring the lighter.
Yet, you lock that cigarette between your lips,
Pretending to smoke the night away.
You chose a pretty good place to part ways,
Here you are, lying on the ground.
I brought roses for you, I thought you'd like them,
But all you want is the cigarette.
Its getting a little cold,
I feel a sense of cold air freezing my chest,
This feeling is unreal. You are right beside me.
I want to hug you so tight, but you've crossed your arms.
I want to kiss you on your forehead and hold your hands,
I want to look into your eyes and rest my forehead on yours.
I might cry a little too, but you'll wipe them with your handkerchief.
I bought that piece of cloth 3 years ago, and you've still kept it close to your heart.
Let's ride away another night,
I want you to see the moon and stars chasing each other while I chase your eyes,
I want you to rest your fingers on the soft grass while I rest my hand on yours.
I want you to lay your head on my lap while my fingers travel through the fields of your hair.
I want a lot of things,
Too bad you're buried six feet under the ground.
That cigarette is still lying on your grave,
I'll smoke one tonight too,
A cigarette to your name.
